| Many of
Ocean Fisheries Ltd.'s senior management have backgrounds in
fishing. This background, combined with active participation
in the fishery, provides the company with a profound respect
for our resources. As a matter of policy, Ocean Fisheries Ltd.
supports responsible, sustainable fisheries management practices.
Our ecosystem approach goes beyond our commercially targeted
species and their habitat. Furthermore, our policy is to fully
participate with the government, fishers, First Nations, coastal
communities, and conservation groups to develop responsible
management plans. In recognition of this, one of our vice-presidents
has been appointed by the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans to
the Pacific Fisheries Resource Conservation Council, which was
created by the Minister of Fisheries as an independent body
to monitor the state of British Columbia's salmon stocks. |

|
We have
long recognized that the long-term sustainability of our resources
requires a strong ecosystem-based approach to Fisheries management.
We are proud to have been a leader in developing British Columbia's
internationally respected commercial fisheries.

| Ocean Fisheries
Ltd. is a major participant in British Columbia's commercial
wild salmon, herring, groundfish, and halibut fisheries. The
company operates a modern herring and wild salmon seine fleet
of thirty company owned, joint venture, and private vessels.
As well, we contract with over two hundred independent herring
and wild salmon gillnet fishermen for their catch. The company
also operates a fleet of groundfish trawlers (two company, four
joint venture, and one private) ranging in length from twenty
to forty meters. Though small by world standards, these modern,
well-equipped vessels are capable of delivering high quality
fresh and frozen product to our plants. |
